As a self-taught artist born and raised in Chicago, now living in McHenry, Illinois, my work bridges the vibrant cultural influences of my upbringing with the unique perspective I’ve developed over the years. I primarily work in acrylic and crayon, focusing on figurative subjects, often exploring the dynamic interplay between black and white with selective bursts of color to amplify the overall concept.
Growing up in the 1960s and 70s has shaped my aesthetic, inspiring a sense of nostalgia and a fascination with the collage-like layering of imagery. This process allows me to bring an eclectic mix of ideas into my work, where esoteric themes blend with familiar forms. My influences include the evocative narrative styles of artists like David Salle, Eric Fischl, and Robert Rauschenberg, whose works push boundaries and challenge conventional perspectives.
I have exhibited my work in galleries across Chicago, Portland, and Seattle, with my most recent showing at the David Leonardis Gallery in Wicker Park. I also enjoy connecting with local communities, participating in exhibitions and art shows in Chicago, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Harvard, and Barrington.
